The Audi RS 3 Sportback is continuing the success story of the legendary 5-cylinder engines in impressive fashion. The 2.5 TFSI boasts mighty performance combined with a soundtrack that makes your skin tingle.
Delivering an output of 270 kW and peak torque of 465 Nm, the 2.5-litre TFSI engine catapults the Audi RS 3 Sportback from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. It is able to reach a top speed of up to 280 km/h, as an option. Thanks to the inclusion of two flaps in the exhaust tailpipes behind the rear muffler, the Audi RS 3 Sportback emits a particularly sonorous engine sound, which intensifies further as the engine load and rev speed change.
Formidable power, transferred to the road with supreme ease – quattro® permanent all-wheel drive distributes the power stemming from the 2.5 TFSI unit to great effect. The electronically controlled and hydraulically operated multi-plate clutch is positioned on the rear axle for a more favourable axle load distribution. Using a software that was purpose developed for the Audi RS 3 Sportback, it splits the transmittable drive torque between the front and rear wheels.
The standard-fit 7-speed S tronic transmission means that the power from the 2.5 TFSI is directed via three shafts: one drive and two output shafts. The simultaneous opening and closing of the two clutches allows gear changes to be made directly – with no perceptible interruption in power flow. The standard Audi drive select feature allows the 7-speed S tronic to shift gear in two different modes or be controlled manually.
